IGOR METROPOL is a non-profit organization located in Budapest, founded in 2011 by people from different creative sectors. Our aim is to foster the visibility of Hungarian contemporary culture abroad and to strengthen relations between local and international artists, curators, cultural workers and other art professionals. Beside organising on-off projects like exhibitions or workshops, we also run a year-round studio program, which enables visiting artists, curators and researchers to develop new works or implement long-planned projects, and present them to the local public for the first time.

***Location
The studio is located in the industrial part of Budapest’s Kelenföld district (Sztregova u. 1, Budapest 1116, Hungary), on the 4th floor of a typical office building from the seventies. The space is 80 square meters and is equipped with basic furniture, Wifi, heating, as well as a washroom and a tea-kitchen. The maximum period of occupation is 3 months.

***Public event
Either at the end or during the course of their stay we encourage each resident to present their practice at a public event. This could happen in form of a studio exhibition, an artist talk, a screening, or an informal presentation on the rooftop-terrace. The Igor Metropol team will assist you in planning, promoting and realizing this event.

***Finances, accommodation, grants
Please note, that the studio rent is free, but accommodation, per-diem and material costs are self supported. However, Igor Metropol Association supports the residents in applying for scholarships or grants (like ECF, Visegrad, Ifa, etc.). We also assist artist with visa application processes where needed.
