Igor Metropol is currently looking for new members! Are you an artist, curator, writer, student, critic, theoretician, or activist who is passionate about the arts? Come and join us!

IGOR METROPOL is a non-profit organization located in Budapest, and founded in 2011 by professionals from the creative sector. Our aim is to foster the visibility of contemporary culture from Hungary abroad and to strengthen international relations between artists and cultural workers in Europe. Our interest ranges from contemporary fine arts to socio/pop cultural phenomena in general. Through openness towards diverse artistic approaches and their mediation, as well as a strong emphasis on collaborative creation, we intend to shift and cross the boundaries between creative producers and the audience. IGOR METROPOL is a volunteer based organisation, and receives no operating funding. Working primarily project based, we acquire public grants, private sponsorships and donations according to the financial needs of the respective project. This approach grants a high level of independence and flexibility.

We offer an ongoing support for local and international artists and cultural workers in the form of the IGOR METROPOL STUDIO. Thanks to a private sponsorship, Igor Metropol manages a 80 square meter space, located in a typical office building from the seventies in the industrial part of Kelenföld, Budapest. Throughout the year, this space is given to individuals for a period of 1-3 months, and is being used as a venue for the creation of new artworks, first presentations of solo and group exhibitions as well as artist talks and screenings. Artists and cultural workers can apply for a short residency, and upon approval of the associations’ curatorial committee they receive the space for free.

For IGOR METROPOL PROJECTS, our associations collaborates with a number of partner organizations in order to share resources and to reach out to a broader and more diversified audience. Please find more information about past projects on our website: https://igormetropol.org/. Current and ongoing projects include: Off-Biennale Budapest, and Tandem Ukraine.
